Few facts about wine
The first known laws related to wine were approved by the Roman emperor Domitian, who ruled from 81-96 AD. He demanded the removal of half of the planted vineyards, forbade the planting of new vines, and obliged the people to grow more grain.
Wines originating from the Bordeaux region in France are traditionally bottled in containers with shorter, distinctly demarcated necks. In contrast, Burgundy wines are typically presented in slightly taller bottles featuring a more evenly tapered neck.
The beverage is judged not only by taste. Wine connoisseurs consider the drink's flavor and evaluate its sweetness, acidity, and sharpness, but the wine's smell, color, and the way it flows from the edges of the glass are no less important.
It is believed that the beverage appeared around 6,000 years ago, in the region that is now known as Georgia. However, it was during the Middle Ages that monks made significant advancements in the technology and techniques for producing this beloved beverage. One notable example is the renowned and highly esteemed champagne known as 'Dom Perignon,' which is named in honor of the monk Dom Pierre Perignon (1638-1715). His contributions to the art of winemaking have left a lasting legacy in the world of viticulture.
