The Republic of Kazakhstan, located in the heart of Eurasia, only appeared on the geopolitical map in 1991. The word of Turkic origin, "Kazakh," means "free man," and Kazakhstan was historically inhabited by freedom-loving nomads.

 

For thousands of years, residents bred and grazed numerous herds on the region's pastures and fertile lands in the foothills and river valleys. The Great Silk Road passed through Kazakh lands, and sable furs were transported from Siberia through the endless Kazakh steppes. Kazakhstan was the most important link in the chain of cultural, trade, and economic relations between Asia and Europe.

 

Kazakhstan became the homeland for people of different nationalities and religions, united by a common historical destiny. This diversity of traditions, spiritual heritage, and languages ​​is especially valued in the Republic of Kazakhstan because it is not without reason that the Japanese proverb says: "A person can survive without his relatives, but he cannot survive without his neighbors."

 

The citizens of Kazakhstan are proud of their multinational state. For centuries, from generation to generation, a good tradition of friendship and good relations between peoples has been passed down and maintained in Kazakhstan.

 

Currently, representatives of about 130 nationalities live in Kazakhstan, of which 66% are Kazakhs, 21% are Russians, and the remaining 13% are Ukrainians, Uzbeks, Uighurs, Koreans, Germans, and Tatars. The predominant religions in the Republic are Islam and Christianity.

 

The official language in the Republic of Kazakhstan is Kazakh; Russian has the status of the language of interethnic communication and is used equally with the official language in state institutions, government bodies, and other organizations. And the younger generation speaks three languages, including English. Kazakh is the language of the ancestors, Russian is the language of communication, and English is developing and becoming popular because it is often used in the business world when communicating with foreign guests of the country.

 

The capital of Kazakhstan is Astana, a city founded in 1830 as a fortress and proclaimed the capital in 1997. Astana is a young but rapidly developing and modern city full of bright prospects, great opportunities, and brilliant ideas.

 

Some cities in the world are famous for their remarkable sights. Thus, San Francisco is forever associated with the Golden Gate Bridge, Paris - with the Eiffel Tower. Those who have been to Almaty will forever remember the picturesque Medeo Gorge.

 

Almaty is a city where representatives of different cultures live in peace and harmony, where open and friendly people meet you in a close interweaving of Eastern and European traditions. The city has a well-developed infrastructure, a high standard of living, a developed economy, and places of recreation and entertainment that meet international quality standards.

 

Although the Republic of Kazakhstan ranks ninth in the world in terms of territory, it remains an unknown and mysterious country for many. Even the most inveterate traveler will discover many interesting and beautiful things in Kazakhstan: snow-covered mountain peaks, vast plateaus, deep rivers, arid deserts, endless fields covered with flowers, and virgin protected forests.
