Hungary is a country in Central Europe on the Pannonian Plain, and its total area is 93,030 square kilometers. Summer is hot but with periods of cold snaps and bad weather. Autumn is long and warm, but fog and rain are not uncommon. Winter is relatively cold, cloudy, and humid. The average temperature in July is from +20 to +22°C; in January, from -2 to -4°C, the average annual temperature is +10°C. Snow rarely falls in winter: 2-5 times a year and lasts 30 to 40 days.

Banks are open on weekdays from 8:00 to 16:00, on Saturdays and Sundays; as a rule, all banks are closed, but in the center of Budapest, many currency exchange offices are open on weekends. Money can be exchanged around the clock in hotels or currency exchange machines. In addition, there are many ATMs and exchange offices in the cities - both simple and automated. You must keep the certificate of currency exchange until you leave the country. The exchange rate in the city is approximately the same, but at airports and train stations, it is quite overpriced.

 

Hungarian cuisine. Hungary, along with France, is called a paradise for gourmets. It is so famous for its national cuisine, which is recognized as one of the best in Europe. Among the local cuisine features, they call its passionate commitment to pepper-paprika, onions, pork, and lard. The country's culinary "calling card" is goulash soup. It is also worth noting that Hungary is the only EU country, besides France, that is permitted to produce goose liver using the "foie gras" technology. This delicacy is also considered traditional here. Goose liver is also used to make aromatic pates and excellent main courses. You should try the Hungarian fish soup "halaszle" and trout, which is grown in the lakes of the mountainous part of the country, and do not miss the opportunity to try pork roast, lecho, meat "a la Budapest modra" - veal, beef or pork cutlets fried with mushrooms and yellow cheese. Hungarian desserts are no less tasty and satisfying: you should try the local "rates roll", "Gundel" pancakes, strudels, and chestnut mass with cream. The most famous wine in Hungary is Tokaj. It was supplied to the court of Louis XIV himself, who called this wine "the king of wines, the wine of kings".
