Why Mountains?

Mountains are visited by billions of people all over the world. Every year the most popular mountains are admired by travellers, nature fans, photographers, family members, friend groups and so on. Visiting mountains have already become a part of tourism industry. That comprises to one quarter of the tourism popularity in the world, that conforms billions USD annually. The mountains alone account to 10% of annual global tourism turnover.

But why do people like mountains so much? What makes them so special and attracts so many tourists annually? One of the basic reasons is that mountains provide vast opportunities for those, who seek adventures, adrenaline and it is possible to escape from daily routine, problem. Besides, the majority of people are tired of tense urban life, traffic jams, air pollution. Being in spectacular mountain environment ensures cleaner, healthier breathing with less trash and noise.

Such nature miracles related to nature allow us to relax, heal and console our soul and body. It’s also a great place to put oneself in perspective with the world, taken in mind that mountains are so much bigger than a human person, which is a majestic thing to look at. For example, one of the biggest and most amazing Mount Everest with its elevation of 29,029′, which is located in a few countries such as Nepal and China, it is a great challenge for mountaineers.

One more reason why mountains are so attractive for tourists it has a positive impact on people’s health. One research has shown that spending time in high altitudes, like big hills, helps promote weight loss as it decrease the appetite and increase metabolic rate.

There is also a list of sports that couldn’t be possible without mountains like: hiking, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding and there are many more activities which people are able to take up. For example, talking about the United States, there are more active people in such states, where mountains are located

It is a fact that people live longer, who are related to mountains. The man, whose age was 132 , lived in a remote part of the Lower Himalayan Range. There is a another list at the of 10 U.S. counties for longevity, with 7 of them being located in higher altitudes.

Finally, there is beauty aspect in relation to mountains. The same landscape never appears, repeats and it is always different. This would be linked with curiosity, which people are so drowned to, to see and explore new and different places. Mountain climbing is a challenge for everyone. This is the reason why common people try to reach the highest peaks worldwide. They even risk to lose their own life in order to achieve the goal of life.

All in all, there are a lot of reasons why the majority of people adore to travel to mountains.
It is proved by the facts stated previously in relation to mountain tourism. It makes sense, it’s such a different scenery to what people are accustomed to in their everyday life.
They want to escape from the urban lifestyle: high buildings, cars, traffic, long working hours and all the typical things they do in ordinary life.

Changing the environment is a powerful contribution to health benefits, reduced stress life and tension.
