CHINA
2009:
Every country experience ups and downs in it's economical life. Recovery process is very complicated after every depression or even recession. For example, let's take a look at communism countries as Russia, Cuba, China, North Korea, Vietnam, where almost every economical step is influenced by the Government. All of them believed in Marxism theory, but finally we can see that it did not prove out. People still experience unemployment and low standards of life in these countries. Despite this fact, one of Communist countries improved the economical level very significantly. Look at the labels of the goods you are buying in any kind of stores. Most of them are produced in China. What happened, that China became one of the biggest producers in the World? Lets take a look at China’s history, local economics, international investments from foreign countries and impact of this huge country for us, citizens of the United States of America .
Sometimes people think, “There is no point to be interested in China’s culture, it is very far away anyway.” That’s not true! The history of China should be very important issue for every person in this country, because China has a huge impact for the United States of America. The Communism in this country made perfect conditions for our firms to use cheap working power. China, the world’s most populous nation, came under communist rule in 1949. In the preceding decades, China has been racked by political turmoil. The collapse of the imperial Manchu dynasty in 1911 instigated the rise of regional warlords, reformist and revolutionary movements. In 1919, after the United States stopped supporting China, its World War I ally, at negotiations for the Treaty of Versailles, a group of students gathered in Beijing to protest. These demonstrations have set off a wave of nationalism and criticism of Western imperialism. At the same time, the successful October Revolution in 1917 in Russia began to exert a growing influence among Chineese intellectuals, sweeping many idealistic youths into the mainstream of revolutionary Marxism. The idea of communism is still alive in this country, although it works in a little bit different way. That’s why foreign countries are able to invest in China and to increase Gross Domestic Product in this country.
Local economics in this country are not very strong, in opposition I would name it as weak economics. There are a lot of little local firms in this country, which are owned by Chinese people. There is no secret that in communism countries corruption and unfairness are the dominant issues. If the owner has friends in the Government or other high institutions, business will succeed - otherwise it will fail. Jobbery is a very popular action in China among local business firms and Government. Chinese business people are trying to get a bigger part block of shares and that way they would be able to protect themselves in case of bankruptcy. They can open new business and start everything all over again. It can be an endless process. I think it is not only China’s problem - it is still alive in all communism countries. I am sure that China would not be able to increase it's economical level only by local production , because of the issues mentioned above.
The international sector of China is the one, that increase all numbers in our statistical tables. Last year, China's foreign trade volume reached 1.1548 trillion US dollars. Exports increased by 35.4 percent to 593.4 billion US dollars, and imports grew by 36 percent to 561.4 billion dollars. China's foreign trade is expected to grow by 15 percent in 2005, with imports and exports balanced, according to a draft plan for national economical and social development. Why firms from Western Europe and United States of America are willing to produce their products in China? The question is very simple, because of the cheap production. China is capable to produce a lot, because of their population. One fifth of the world’s people live in China. The working power is very cheap, because of more than fifty years of communism propaganda. Are people working less efficient? No, because everybody is trying to save their working positions, because there are a lot of people, who experience unemployment, and would be more than happy to get any kind of job. This country improves the main rule of economics: big quantity for low price.
The sector of Government is also very important in this country, but it is not profitable. Government manages transport and baking systems, without any interruption from outside. They gave people possibilities to open their own businesses, but at the same time they don’t want that business world would push out the ideas of communism. If communism died, they would loose very profitable work positions. There is only one way to make a country more profitable - to liquidate communism. Of course it can’t be done now, but I believe that in some day it is possible that China will be a democratic country. New generation can change the politics, which is stopping the possibility of growing.
A person, who is not interested in foreign policy, might think that China has a lot of specialists, who are good in technological manufacturing. That’s not true. China can not boast about people, who are producing computers or other technological devises. Yes, China produced a nucleon weapon, rockets, and reached space. However, they are buying machines and computers from foreign countries. China is producing computers too, but ninety two percent of them are produced by foreign companies. Firms from Western Europe and United States of America export parts, components, and materials. Chinese people just put them together. Technological difference between China and economically developed countries is based on countrie's political structure and believes. I am sure that China will will be able to train people as perfect specialists in technological sphere only if it loses the communistic believes.
Economics’ experts state, that in the future China will take the second place in the worlds market, comparing by production and it’s value. It will even exceed Japan, which is known as the leader in technology. Will it impact us, the citizens of the United States? Of course it will. Even now, the producers in our country are not buying our labor. They send materials, parts and components to China, where the cost of production is much cheaper. That way American firms are able to sell goods in the United States cheaper, than competitors, who produce within the United States and pay more for labor. Talking about the people of the middle and lower classes, China is “stealing” their job positions. However, qualified workers will not feel a negative impact, because qualified labor have no competitors in China. This huge country specializes in the kind of industry, where everything is already created and explained. They just have to make the final product. The only one way to avoid China as a competitor is to get more qualified people in the United States.
I think that China lives by the rules of foreigners right now. What happened if the situation would change to the negative side? China would flounder, if foreign companies would stop their investments. I think it could happen. There is another huge country, that is not so big by it’s population, but is the biggest by it’s territory in the World. That is Russia, another communistic country. Economy in Russia is rising too, and nobody knows, maybe after some years foreign investors will be rather investing to Russia, than to China. That’s why China has to spend more money for people’s education, and prepare more specialists, because they are the ones, who are the most demand able in today’s world. That way China would be able to create and produce without foreign investment.
History is changing so fast. Nobody knows, what is going to happen in China, United States of America or in other countries in the future. We can only guess, based on the economists’ consumptions. China is producing a lot, but her population is not equal to other countries. The population of the world is just over six billion now. In 2050 it is expected to have nine point one billion. The population in China will grow dramatically. I think cancelling communism could change China’s local economy, and expand it's international trade. The future of this country should be very important to every person in American , because it influences our economy and standards of living.
